Open Door Memphis, LLC specializes in the mid-town area of Memphis and is familiar with older homes built in the early 1900s. We have done work in Central Gardens and Annesdale Historic Districts and understand working with Memphis’ Landmarks Commission. Construction methods and styles have changed over the decades. We have learned how these older homes were constructed and how to repair and remodel them with modern materials and technology while maintaining the historic charm and design.

Always a good day when we get to install siding with Wes Leyshon Carpentry. Knepp Brothers Construction did us a solid letting us use their SkyTrak to install the gables Grateful to get the chance to work with @joshua_knepp. So nice to follow a framer who knows how to make everything tight, plumb, straight, and level.

Local Gastropub Downtown let us build a raised bench and lounge area in front of where their new piano is going. Going to have to go check out their live music (and live beer taps) now. Couldn’t have got this done without the skills of @redeemed_outdoors_

Some very classy doors we had the opportunity to install today. Homeowner has excellent taste. ... Ordered this new unit to the exact same dimensions of the old existing unit (not pictured) Good thing our measurements were precise when ordering this unit 4 weeks ago since the rough opening was only 3/16” wider than the new unit! (Drywall was hammered like that when the last unit was installed)

Replacing 107 year old window sashes in Central Gardens. Reusing the original brass finger lifts (did I mention they are 107 years old?). New sashes are Sierra Pacific wood sashes that come with a lifetime guarantee, double-paned insulated glass with grids styled to match the original windows to satisfy Historic District guidelines. @fletch_livves @lizaf87

Office with a view. Repairing a 3rd story radius window for a rad customer. 25 feet feels pretty shaky on the 4th stack of scaffold. Thank God for roof jacks! (Wanted to jump in that pool too).. @memphissoundlabllc

Wednesday To Do List: 1.) 2,275 sq ft circle driveway extension ✔️ 2.) Add on to Will’s driveway across the street. ✔️ (still gotta wash it later) 3.) Go home and play with my kids 🔲 On the way!!

Bathroom project finished up nicely. Some of the best homeowners we’ve worked with. They worked very hard and planned it all out. All we had to do was slap it together. Pic 3, yes, that’s a fold-down ironing board.

Recent renovation in Binghampton. When we got this house she was in bad shape. Half the floor was missing, plumbing and electrical was all shot, rafters were pushing the walls out... We forgot to get the “before pics” before we knocked all the plaster out of her, but you get the idea. This house was a duplex that got turned into a 3/2 with all new wiring, plumbing, appliances, HVAC, and windows. Nice customs cabinets, granite tops, new hardwood by Midtown Hardwood tied in and matched to the original (what was left of it!), and some classy tile in the baths and kitchen. It’s also got a sweet custom iron handrail on the side door from Iron & Design. If you look close you can get a glimpse of it in the last slide. Landscaping done by none other than @daniellovesplants. Thanks to Brandon Harris for the pics and design work.

Josh is about to get BUSY!!

..I’m so fascinated how little kids’ minds work. Today while going to pick up a pizza, listening to the radio, John asked, “Is this ‘Learning to Fly’?” A week ago, the first only time he heard the song, I told him, “This is Learning to Fly by Tom Petty.” It’s wild that a 2 year old can recall a song title a week later that he’s only heard once. The only logical thing to do next was to play the tune. Then to trip his dad out even more, during the song he says, “What goes up, must come down..” Kids are so rad.. Little dude had only heard that song once. Clearly Tom Petty’s legendary status is legit if a 2 year old remembers the lines with only a single listen. @tompettyofficial #tompetty
